Aim and overview

Long term capital growth is a core objective for many pension funds, charities and family offices. Investors in the CF Seneca Diversified Growth Fund access a multi-asset portfolio with a clearly differentiated approach to generating long term capital growth.

The fund combines tactical asset allocation with a mid cap UK equity portfolio, a range of overseas, value orientated equity managers, significant exposure to specialist assets and modest holdings in fixed interest markets.

This combination of assets is managed in keeping with our value ethos, which we believe holds out the prospect of superior long term returns.

Investment approach

Strategic asset allocation

29We consider our multi-asset value approach to delivering long term capital growth makes the CF Seneca Diversified Growth Fund different to other offerings in the marketplace. The fund is weighted towards UK and overseas equities and specialist investments, with a relatively low exposure to fixed interest investments.

The fund has a strategic asset allocation designed to meet its long term objective. In addition, the manager uses tactical asset allocation as a means to capitalise on new value opportunities.

In UK equities, the majority of our holdings are drawn from the mid cap arena. We believe that this area offers greater systemic returns. And being less well-researched than the universe of larger stocks, it provides more opportunities and greater scope for us to add value to the fund.

In overseas equities we invest in funds managed by third party fund managers. We select managers and funds who share our value investing approach and who are focussed on returns rather than benchmarks. Within the specialist space, we invest in assets which we expect to deliver income that is more reliable than equities and more able to grow than bonds.
