- 70% rise in assets in 2018
- VT Seneca Funds ranked top quartile in their sectors* over five years
Seneca Investment Managers (Seneca IM), the boutique, Multi-Asset Value Investment specialist, this week celebrates its fifth anniversary as an independent fund management house.
Originally acquired by Seneca Asset Managers Ltd from Miton Group plc in 2014, the investment house has gone from strength to strength, firmly establishing itself as a specialist, value-oriented investment boutique with a track-record of delivering consistent, risk-adjusted alpha to retail investors and intermediaries across its fund range.
Seneca IM experienced monumental growth in 2018, with assets rising by 70% to in excess of £0.5 billion. Today total assets under management have passed the £600m mark.
Both the VT Seneca Diversified Growth Fund and VT Seneca Diversified Income Fund are ranked within the top quartile in their respective sectors over five years. The VT Seneca Diversified Growth Fund returned 44.5 per cent, compared with 33.2 per cent for the sector average, and the VT Seneca Diversified Income Fund returned 37.7 per cent, compared with 24.0 per cent for the sector average according to data over the last five years from FE Analytics. The risk-adjusted performance for both funds was excellent.
Past performance is not a guide to future returns. The value of investments and any income may fluctuate and investors may not get back the full amount invested.
David Thomas, CEO of Seneca Investment Manager said: “This asset growth is emblematic of Seneca IM’s ambition to expand its business and presence across the UK. We continue to make significant investments in staff, infrastructure and marketing to underpin the further development of our business.
“This, coupled with the prospective appointment of Valu-Trac as our Funds ACD from May 2019, builds on the significant success of recent years. These developments will create a scalable, flexible and cost-effective platform on which to continue our growth, by delivering excellent investment outcomes and service to a growing range of investors.
“It is all the more pleasing that this growth has been achieved against a background of increased uncertainty in markets which characterised much of 2018, and this is testament both to the quality of our multi-asset, value investment proposition and of our growing profile in the fund management industry.”
- Extended and complemented the excellent team with the addition of David Thomas as CEO, Peter Elston as CIO, Steve Hunter as Head of Business Development and Gary Moglione as Fund Manager within the multi asset team.
- Established a highly differentiated, team-based investment proposition with a clear focus on multi-asset value investing
- Delivered outstanding risk adjusted returns to investors across the full range of funds, including the VT Seneca Diversified Growth Fund, the VT Seneca Diversified Income Fund and the Seneca Global Income & Growth Trust plc
